Everton 2-0 Liverpool – Premier League: Live score, team news and updates… Reds' title hopes hang by thread after Dominic Calvert-Lewin doubles lead against fierce rivals
They now have less than 15 minutes to find three goals, that ain’t happening realistically, is it?
I know they like their late goals, but they don’t look like getting one let alone three.
Their season could be over very soon. Mo Salah just nearly puts one out of the stadium, it’s been that kind of game for him.
SUBSTITUTION: Everton 2-0 Liverpool
Everton make their second change of the night as they look to solidify their defence in protection of their lead.
Amadou Onana comes on in place of Idrissa Gana Gueye, who has been imperious in the midfield.
Everton 2-0 Liverpool
Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, at Goodison Park:
This has been an abysmal defensive performance from Liverpool. Who was marking Calvert-Lewin for the second goal? Nobody, frankly. Liverpool’s title challenge is about to be washed down the Mersey.
HIT THE POST! Everton 2-0 Liverpool
Luis Diaz comes so close to pulling one back!
It’s brilliant work by Diaz on the left-hand side and he tries to bend one into the far corner, but it smashes back off the post.
if Liverpool are to get something from this game, they will need a moment of magic to do so.
Everton 2-0 Liverpool
This could be any number at this rate!
The Toffees look like they are going to score from every corner they have, Jarrad Branthwaite sneaks in at the back post in their most recent one and heads wide.
Liverpool are on the ropes.
RED CARD! Wolves 0-1 Bournemouth (Kerkez)
Bournemouth are down to 10 men.
It’s a nasty one from Milos Kerkez on Matt Doherty, it’s really late, and the referee pulls out the red card!
SUBSTITUTIONS: Everton 2-0 Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp has seen enough, he makes three changes.
Wataru Endo, Jarrell Quansah, and Harvey Elliott are all on, while Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate, and Curtis Jones all come off.
Klopp is hoping they can pull off a miracle.
Everton 2-0 Liverpool
If Liverpool aren’t careful, it could get worse than just 2-0.
The Toffees look threatening every time they go forward, while Liverpool look like they are out of ideas.
Not many people foresaw this happening.
GOAL!!! Everton 2-0 Liverpool (Calvert-Lewin 58′)
Everton are two to the good!
Oh my word, that is some let-off at Goodison Park. Dominic Calvert-Lewin rises miles higher than anybody from the resulting corner to head past Alisson.
Liverpool look shellshocked, Everton are in dreamland.
CHANCE! Everton 1-0 Liverpool
Goodison Park is alive again!
Everton have been pinned back but finally manage to get forward, and then Dwight McNeil unleashes one hell of an effort that is heading for the top corner.
However, Alisson is there to turn it over.
Everton 1-0 Liverpool
The offside flag spares Andy Robertson’s blushes.
Liverpool have been much better at the start of this second half and Trent Alexander-Arnold has just chipped in a delightful ball for Andy Robertson to attack, but he completely misses the ball.
Luckily for him, he was offside, but my word he should at least connect with that.
GOAL!!! Palace 1-0 Newcastle (Mateta 55′)
Jean-Philippe Mateta is at it again!
Mateta combines really well with Jordan Ayew before firing it into the back of the net.
That’s his sixth goal in seven appearances, he’s on fire.
GOAL DISALLOWED! Wolves 0-1 Bournemouth
VAR deems that substitute Matheus Cunha fouled Justin Kluivert in the build-up to the goal.
We are back to 1-0, Wolves have to go again.
GOAL!!! Wolves 1-1 Bournemouth (Hwang)
Hwang Hee-Chan has his first goal of the year as he gets onto the end of Nelson Semedo’s cross to head home.
That is just what Wolves needed, but wait… VAR are checking a potential foul in the build-up to the goal.
SECOND HALF: Everton 1-0 Liverpool
The ball is rolling again at Goodison Park.
The stadium is very quiet for some reason, I’m sure that will change very soon.
Can Liverpool come back, or will Everton claim their first home win over the Reds since 2010?
‘Add another big miss to Nunez’s list’
Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, at Goodison Park:
On our Its All Kicking Off Podcast recently, Chris Sutton reeled off a stat that said Darwin Nunez had missed more ‘big chances’ than any other forward in the major European leagues.
You can now add another to that list. It was a decent save by Jordan Pickford when Salah played Nunez through in the run-up to half-time but the shot was off the hit-and-hope variety and that’s not good enough at this level.
SECOND HALF: Palace 0-0 Newcastle
Back underway in south London!
It may have been a slow first half, but that could all change in the second, both sides will hope it does in their favour.
Let’s hope for some goals then, eh?
Liverpool way off it
What is going on at Liverpool at the moment?
The Reds have been miles from the best for some time now, and they just can’t seem to re-find their form.
After their victory at Fulham, many thought they were back in the hunt for the title, but they don’t look like they are based on that first half.
The forwards need to find their shooting boots if they are to get back into this.
WATCH: Branthwaite sends Goodison bezerk
If you’re wearing headphones, be careful.
the noise when the ball hit the back of the net was one of the loudest things I’ve ever heard.
Liverpool just couldn’t get rid of the ball, and they were punished for their awful defending.
A huge moment for Everton and Jarrad Branthwaite. Enjoy Toffees!
‘Goodison Park is deafening at times’
Lewis Steele, Mail Sport, at Goodison Park:
The atmosphere at Goodison Park is deafening at times. Liverpool’s best spell of the half was just before the break. A few players were guilty of wastefulness again.
HALF-TIME: Everton 1-0 Liverpool
What an enthralling half of football.
The referee grants the home fans’ wishes and blows for half-time, just as Liverpool had finally pulled themselves together.
Everton deservedly lead at Goodison Park, they have caused Liverpool all sorts of problems.
After an early penalty was overturned by VAR and some other chances went begging, you questioned if they would get the goal, but they did in the 27th minute through Jarrad Branthwaite.
Liverpool have been miles off it, but once again have missed a bunch of big chances.
Everton 1-0 Liverpool
This feels like it’s the end of the game, not the first half.
Everton are calling for the whistle, Liverpool are flying forward in search of an equaliser.
They have improved, but still can’t find the back of the net.
SECOND HALF: Wolves 0-1 Bournemouth
Back underway at Molineux.
I wonder what Gary O’Neil said at half-time. He will need as major reaction from his side to turn this one around.
Or will Bournemouth pull away from them?
HALF-TIME: Palace 0-0 Newcastle
It’s fair to say, that this hasn’t been the best of games, I bet you could tell by the lack of updates.
It’s probably because of me, I predicted lots of goals and said it would be a sensational game.
Still another 45 minutes for me to be proved wrong.
CHANCE! Everton 1-0 Liverpool
How are Liverpool not level?
Lewis Steele, Mail Sport, said before the match that Liverpool can’t be wasteful, well they are being just that.
Darwin Nunez messes up his touch as he looks set to go through on goal, but he sets up Mo Salah instead.
Salah has two bites at the cherry, but he is miles off with both, the second attempt was especially poor.
BIG SAVE! Everton 1-0 Liverpool
Luis Diaz has to score, but he doesn’t.
Someone next to me has just asked the question if Liverpool ‘know where they are meant to put the ball’. It doesn’t look like it.
Luis Diaz looks destined to score, but he fires a back post volley straight at Jordan Pickford.
By the way, Vitaliy Mykolenko is fine to continue – I have no idea how…
OUCH! Everton 1-0 Liverpool
Vitaliy Mykolenko lands awkwardly on his ankle and is in agony, he is smacking the grass in pain.
The roll of the ankle is so bad, that replays are not being shown of it. Surely he won’t continue.
The office just went ‘oooo’ when it was shown in the end.
YELLOW CARD: Everton 1-0 Liverpool (Van Dijk)
That encapsulates Liverpool’s performance so far.
Following a foul, Virgil van Dijk charges at the referee angrily and gets a booking for his protests.
That right there, is pure frustration.
HUGE CHANCE! Everton 1-0 Liverpool
Oh, Darwin Nunez, how have you not scored?
The Liverpool striker shows absolutely no composure as he is sent through on goal, he just smashes it straight at Jordan Pickford.
I can’t believe he hasn’t just slotted it into the back of the net, but that’s not Nunez’s style I guess.
Once again, Liverpool are wasteful.
HALF-TIME: Wolves 0-1 Bournemouth
Wolves have been dreadful, Bournemouth dominant.
The Cherries are getting the better of their former manager’s current side, Wolves, and Antoine Semenyo’s strike means they lead at the break.
It could have been more, it should have been more, but at the end of the day, they are ahead in the match.
Wolves have a lot of work to do.
Everton 1-0 Liverpool
Goodison Park is deafening!
I can barely hear myself think as I type this, it’s the noise Everton wanted to hear, and their performance is why they are.
Liverpool haven’t turned up.
Everton 1-0 Liverpool
Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, at Goodison Park:
The Everton goal came about from yet another needless free-kick given away by Liverpool. Everton deserve their lead. More energy, more appetite, better football.
GOAL!!! Everton 1-0 Liverpool (Branthwaite 27′)
Everton have been dominant and they finally have their goal. It wasn’t the prettiest, but they won’t care.
Jarrod Branthwaite squeezes it under Alisson and it feels like it takes an age to cross the line.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin smashes it into the back of the net, but it was already over.
VAR checks, but the goal is given. Liverpool’s title hopes are hanging by a thread.
GOAL!!! Wolves 0-1 Bournemouth (Semenyo 37′)
Bournemouth have been glaringly dominant at Molineux and they finally have the lead.
Antoine Semanyo is the man who delivers the moment, he gets on the end of a lovely move to turn in from close range.
I’m surprised it’s taken this long the way the game has been going.
Everton 0-0 Liverpool
Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, at Goodison Park:
Everton are winning the midfield battle so far and it’s bringing them a stream of free-kicks which will suit them down to the ground. Liverpool’s marking at those free-kicks, meanwhile, has been startlingly poor…
BIG SAVE! Everton 0-0 Liverpool
That’s a massive save by Alisson.
Everton should be 1-0 up. Dominic Calvert-Lewin climbs highest at the back post to meet James Tarkowski’s cross-box header, but he fires straight at the Liverpool goalkeeper.
Will Everton rue these moments? You feel they need to take their chances.
Everton 0-0 Liverpool
Liverpool are struggling, Everton are thriving.
This shows exactly how derbies are in the mind as much as they are in the body.
Everton don’t look like a team in a relegation battle, that’s for sure. They are the much better side.
Everton 0-0 Liverpool
Everton have looked very good going forward.
Ben Godfrey is involved again, but this time in an attacking sense. He gets his head to a Dwight McNeil free-kick, but can’t turn it home.
It was a free header, after watching the replay I think he should do much better.
Everton 0-0 Liverpool
Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, at Goodison Park:
Offside call the correct one on the penalty incident but Everton will be encouraged by how unsettled Liverpool look across the back. It will suit the home team for the game to be 100 miles an hour for a while…but that cant go on forever.
WHAT A CLEARANCE! Everton 0-0 Liverpool
Wow, what a clearance by Ben Godfrey!
Liverpool looked certain to score, but Godfrey saves the day. Trent Alexander-Arnold lofts a lovely ball into Mo Salah at the back post, who then pulls the ball across the area.
You just expect the net to ripple, but Godfrey is there to get rid of the ball as Luis Diaz is set to pounce.
Brilliant football all round.
VAR: NO PENALTY
There you go, Dominic Calvert-Lewin was indeed ahead of the Liverpool defenders.
That means Alisson’s yellow card is rescinded, he is one lucky man because that was poor.
Everton fans boo, I’m not sure why…
PENALTY TO EVERTON!
Everton have an early penalty!
Alisson hesitates as he comes out to try and smother Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but he takes him out as the ball goes past him.
However, VAR is checking for offside… he does look slightly off.
CHANCE! Everton 0-0 Liverpool
Everton nearly deal the first blow of the night.
Dwight McNeil pulls the ball back for Abdoulaye Doucoure, but his first-time effort goes miles wide.
Liverpool then come close through Luis Diaz, but Everton hook clear.
A more than decent start to the match.
Everton 0-0 Liverpool
Goodison Park is a cauldron of noise.
The boos come out from the Everton crowd as soon as Liverpool get their first touch on the ball.
This could be a really tough evening for the Reds, the crowd can really help the Toffees out.
KICK-OFF!
The ball is rolling in both Merseyside and south London.
It’s a huge night of thrilling Premier League action, all the teams involved want the three points, but the derby at Goodison Park feels like Everton want them more than they ever have.
Strap in all, it’s going to be a rollercoaster of a night.
Here come the teams!
Wow, Goodison Park is rocking, the Toffees are well up for this.
The Everton fans roar as the two teams come out from the tiny tunnel, it really is tight in there.
Now it’s time for the Premier League anthem to ruin the incredible noise within the stadium.
OFF THE WOODWORK! Wolves 0-0 Bournemouth
Bournemouth have come out of the traps flying, they mean business.
The Cherries have had the first chance of the match through Antoine Semenyo, who forces Jose Sa into a strong save. They then rattle the woodwork from a corner.
Nervous moments for the hosts.
Final Preparations complete on Merseyside
In our feature game tonight, both Everton and Liverpool have completed their warm-ups.
This is when the nerves really start to jangle as a fan, the anticipation is at an all-time high.
The atmosphere is rumbling and Goodison Park is nearly ready.
KICK-OFF: Wolves 0-0 Bournemouth
The 7.45pm match is underway at Molineux.
Both sides have been struggling to get wins of late, but can either of them change that tonight?
We will find out over the next 90 minutes!
Jurgen Klopp: ‘Over the years you learn everything about this fixture’
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, speaking to Sky Sports:
You need to listen, you need to get a feeling for it [the derby]. In the beginning, I knew it is now I feel it that is the big difference. I’m pretty sure after a year I was fully in but I can tell you over the years you learn everything about this fixture.
Had only three clubs I worked for but some I will likely never work again as a manager. There are a couple of clubs I will never definitely work for.
‘Toffees will have to play above themselves’
Ian Ladyman, Mail Sport Football Editor, at Goodison Park:
I have been to this stadium many times over the years and watched Everton struggle against the very best teams. I have occasionally seen them do very well but more often than not they will flatter to deceive.
Looking at the two teams tonight, Sean Dyche’s players will have to play above themselves here if they are to buck that trend. For his part, Jurgen Klopp will hope to see something better from Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez, both restored to the lineup after being rested at Fulham.
Mo Salah loves the derby
It’s fair to say, Mo Salah loves the Merseyside Derby.
The ‘Egyptian King’ returns to the starting 11 tonight after being given a rest away at Fulham. H will want to return with a goal.
Salah has netted five times in his last five league appearances against Everton.
He could become the first player since Dixie Dean in 1932-33 to score two or more goals in both Merseyside derbies in a single league campaign.
Scoring a brace away at Everton is tough, but he has done it before, in December 2021.
‘Reds need to be more clinical’
Lewis Steele, Mail Sport, at Goodison Park:
Both teams have gone with their strongest XIs in the circumstances and this should be an enthralling game. I think the key will be a fast start for Liverpool. If Everton frustrate the visitors as they will intend to do, they will grow in confidence and could make this a very scrappy affair. Liverpool’s biggest problem in the last month has mirrored a season-long issue for the Toffees – wastefulness. The Reds need to be more clinical while when chances do fall Everton’s way, they must take them.
Toffees have rediscovered Goodison form
Everton have found form at the right time.
Either side of a heavy 6-0 defeat away to Chelsea, the Toffees have beaten relegation rivals Burnley and Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park.
Sean Dyche’s side is aiming to win three consecutive home league matches without conceding for the first time since a run of five in 2019.
It could be a tough ask tonight.
Jack Harrison: ‘Important to create atmosphere difficult for any team’
Jack Harrison, Everton winger, speaking to Sky Sports:
It’s been important to generate that good feeling around Goodison and create an atmosphere that is difficult for any team to come and play here. We were able to do it at the weekend and we are hoping to do it tonight, what an opportunity it is to do it with the derby here. Everyone is excited to get the game started.
Not so happy hump day for Palace
I’m on a bit of a roll tonight, so let’s bring you some more statistics.
This one is a real niche one, something I never expected to write a post about, but stats like these are just fantastic.
Crystal Palace haven’t claimed three points in any of their last 15 league fixtures that have been played on a Wednesday. I know, mad!
So, that’s a good omen for Newcastle fans, or will that stat be broken tonight?
Can Everton end home derby rut?
Everton’s Merseyside Derby record has not been the best in recent years.
The Toffees are without a win in their last 12 Premier League home games against Liverpool, however, they have only lost three of those.
That’s not the end of the damning statistics though, Everton have only won one of their last 26 league meetings with Liverpool, home and away. The solitary win came at Anfield in February 2021 as they came out 2-0 victors.
Not good reading for the Blues, but stats are there to be broken and when a team is fighting for their lives, anything is possible.
Can they finally bag those elusive home three points against their bitter rivals?
Gakpo wife expecting baby
You might be wondering where Cody Gakpo is, well, Lewis Steele has the answer.
The Dutch forward who has been in decent form of late, misses tonight due to his wife expecting to give birth.
I think that’s a fair excuse to miss a match.
Newcastle Team news – Unchanged
I’m not surprised at this, though.
Newcastle name an unchanged side from the one that humbled Tottenham 4-0 – it feels like a lifetime ago.
Can we expect more goals from the team?
Crystal Palace Team News – Olise BENCHED
Well then, Michael Olise does not start!
Jordan Ayew comes in to replace him as the only change to the side that beat West Ham 5-2.
That was certainly not a change I was expecting.
Liverpool Team News – SIX changes
Jurgen Klopp has rung the changes once again, making six to the side that came out 3-1 winners away at Fulham.
The whole midfield has changed as Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Curtis Jones all come in.
Luis Diaz keeps his place, but Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah return to the frontline.
Ibrahima comes back into the centre of defence to partner Virgil van Dijk.
Everton Team News
Sean Dyche makes two changes from the win over Nottingham Forest.
Ben Godfrey and James Garner come into the side for Ashley Young and Andre Gomes.
After coming off with an injury against Forest, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is fit to start.
Wolves love a bite of the Cherries
Firstly, I apologise for the sub-heading… not! I love a bit of wordplay, I couldn’t resist.
Wolves have a very good record against Bournemouth in recent times, they have lost only one of their seven Premier League meetings with the Cherries, winning four.
The solitary loss? A 1-0 defeat to Gary O’Neil’s Bournemouth in February 2023, at Molineux.
Oh, I love statistics like these, don’t you?
Bournemouth Team news – THREE Changes
The Cherries also make some changes, three to be precise.
One of them is surprising as Mark Travers comes in between the posts, as Neto drops to the bench.
Antoine Semenyo and Alex Scott also come into the starting 11.
Wolves Team News – Semedo RETURNS
Gary O’Neil makes four changes to the side that lost 2-0 to Arsenal at Molineux on Saturday.
Nelson Semedo, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Mario Lemina, and Pablo Sarabia all come into the team to freshen things up.
Can this Wolves team get back to winning ways?
Sean Dyche: ‘In a derby the noise changes’
Sean Dyche, Everton boss, speaking on Tuesday:
Derbies across the country, I’ve played in them, I’ve managed in them, this one I have managed only two, both away, so obviously I’ve not experienced the home yet, of course it means more but the point is you are hoping to get to a consistent level of performance where every game you are taking it on is. But [in a derby] of course the noise changes, the players you know what they get, the feel of the game does change.
We’ve just come off an important result, we’re back at Goodison and the fans are in good voice, it’s a great opportunity again to take it on. That’s all I’m looking for, a performance that can take on the game and win. It’s not easy but you’ve got to have the mindset to go: “Right, let’s just take the performance on and forget about all the stories of the past and take this performance on.”
Arne ready to fill the LFC Slot?
While Jurgen Klopp doesn’t have to endure the pressure of a Merseyside Derby much longer, a certain Arne Slot might.
It seems after some twists and turns in the task to find Jurgen Klopp’s replacement, Liverpool have identified the man they want.
The Reds have opened talks with Feyenoord boss, Arne Slot, as they look to secure the services of the Dutch manager.
The fans certainly seem excited about the prospect of Slot’s potential arrival on Merseyside, so I have a feeling you may want to cast your eyes on this article.

Jurgen Klopp: Derby pressure is ‘not enjoyable’
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, speaking on Tuesday:
Around the derby is just pressure. The pressure is higher so why should the joy be higher? You win it, great, but why should I miss the pressure around it? This time, when you’re really playing for something, that’s the pressure. But when you are both not in a great moment, it’s the one game you have to win, definitely. That kind of pressure – why would I miss that? It’s not enjoyable.
Klopp’s last derby dance
Liverpool fans, do you have a handkerchief handy? You may get emotional tonight.
Today marks the 19th and final time Jurgen Klopp will lead his Reds out for a Merseyside Derby, but he will not be thinking about that. Three points is all he wants from tonight.
Klopp may not enjoy the derby (you’ll see in the next post), but he has been rather successful in them. Tonight, he can become the first Liverpool manager in history to reach 10 league wins against Everton.
However, the meetings he has had to endure at Goodison Park have not always been the best. Klopp has only won two out of seven matches at Goodison, with the other five ending in draws.
One point wouldn’t be good enough tonight though, if he wants a Premier League title fairytale ending at the Reds.
No room for emotion tonight from Klopp’s perspective, they have a job to do.
Premier League goalscoring record set to be broken
I think we can all admit, this Premier League campaign has been simply sensational.
I think it is reflected in some of the games we have had. Just to name a few, Chelsea 4-4 Man City, Man City 3-3 Tottenham, Liverpool 4-3 Fulham, and Tottenham 1-4 Chelsea.
The goalscoring has been relentless this season, like nothing we have ever seen before in the division.
So it comes as no surprise that only four goals need to fly in this evening for the Premier League record for most goals in a season to be broken.
We still have 45 more matches following tonight…
There are not just three Premier League matches tonight, there is a fourth too.
Manchester United are looking for some way to get the critics off their back, which will be hard after Sunday’s shambles against Coventry.
They face a doomed rock-bottom Sheffield United tonight, so they should win, right? That’s not how United roll though.
My colleague Michael Pavitt is on duty to give you all the updates on the ongoing at Old Trafford this evening.
To follow the live blog, click below:
Newcastle travel to in-form Palace
I have a sneaky feeling this could be a sensational game.
Crystal Palace have suddenly burst into life under Oliver Glasner, first ending Liverpool’s 18-month Anfield unbeaten run before sending five goals past West Ham at the weekend.
It’s clear that Palace fans are loving life under their Austrian manager, their new and exciting brand of football is a pleasure to watch. Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise are thriving in the system.
Having said that, Newcastle are in very good form. The Magpies have secured 10 points from their last four matches, with the most recent of those a 4-0 humbling of Tottenham.
Eddie Howe’s side come to Selhurst Park as a side riddled with injury problems, but with the form they are in, they’ll certainly be capable of hurting Palace’s sudden re-birth.
I’m predicting lots of goals.
O’Neil’s Wolves host former side Cherries
Gary O’Neil is going to see some familiar faces at Molineux tonight.
Tonight will feel like a big match for the Wolves boss, who you would expect will want to get one over Bournemouth, who he managed for 10 months, and kept in the Premier League, last season.
However, wins have been hard to come by for Wolves of late, they are winless in their last five games, losing three of them.
It’s not like the visitors this evening are in the best form either, Bournemouth haven’t picked up three points in any of their last three matches.
Surely one of these records has to end tonight, right? I bet it will be a draw now I said that.
Derby Day on Merseyside
Nerves, optimism, anguish, and euphoria. Just some of the emotions fans feel on derby day.
The City of Liverpool is home to two of the biggest clubs in English football, everybody knows the Merseyside Derby. It was once seen as the ‘Friendly derby’, but it doesn’t feel like that anymore.
Friends of mine on both sides of the divide can go from laughing together one day to not talking the next. Why? That’s how much the derby means to them.
Liverpool have had the better of it over the last couple of decades, but you can never count Everton out. Form doesn’t come into it when these two meet, they are both desperate for three points.
So much is at stake for both teams. Liverpool are still in the three-horse race for the Premier League title, anything less than a win could spell the end of their title-winning dreams. Everton would happily oblige in crushing them.
Meanwhile, Everton are still in the midst of the relegation battle. Lose, and those doubts will start to creep back in despite their win over Nottingham Forest.
Both teams have so much to lose, it’s going to be a belter (we hope ).
What’s in store?
After writing that introduction I’m now amped up for another brilliant night of top-tier football, so hopefully you all are too.
I have the pleasure of covering three matches for you this evening, let’s have a look at what you can look forward to:
Wolves vs Bournemouth, 19:45 BST
Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United, 20:00 BST
Everton vs Liverpool, 20:00 BST
More midweek matches!
I told you I’d be back soon; I hope you didn’t miss me too much!
Hopefully, last night’s London Derby whet your appetite, we have plenty more for you to dig your teeth into today.
It seems to be a week where rivals lock horns as once again red battles against blue in a local derby, this time in Merseyside as Everton plays host to title-chasing Liverpool at Goodison Park. It’s always a tasty fixture, this one.
It’s also an evening where the race for the European spots could be affected with Newcastle in action against Crystal Palace, while Gary O’Neil has a mini derby of his own as his Wolves side face his former employers, Bournemouth.
I’m sure you can already tell there are a lot of storylines for you to follow tonight. These are the types of nights I adore, there is so much at stake for so many teams.
I bet there are some very nervous Liverpool and Everton fans reading this, the derby means so much more than three points.
Right, I think that is enough of an introduction, let’s get cracking!

Everton 2-0 Liverpool – Premier League: Live score, team news and updates… Reds’ title hopes hang by thread after Dominic Calvert-Lewin doubles lead against fierce rivals
